2014 Development Partners Forum Overview

The 2014 Development Partners Forum, held on March 13–14 in Tarawa, brought together the Government of Kiribati and its international development partners to strengthen collaboration and align efforts toward the nation's development goals.

Key Objectives:

• Review Progress: Assess the implementation of the Kiribati Development Plan (KDP) 2012–2015 and discuss outcomes of the Mid-Term Review.
• Enhance Coordination: Foster dialogue between the government and development partners to ensure effective aid coordination and alignment with national priorities.
• Address Sectoral Challenges: Deliberate on critical sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, energy, and climate change, identifying challenges and proposing strategic interventions.

Notable Outcomes:

• Energy Sector Focus: Presentation of the "Energy Concept Paper," outlining strategies for achieving energy security and sustainability in Kiribati.
• Economic Reforms: Discussions on ongoing economic reform initiatives, including fiscal stability, public financial management, and state-owned enterprise reforms.
• Development Proposals: Compilation of a matrix of development proposals to guide future collaborations and investments by development partners.
